Retracing the footsteps of the civil rights movement
About
People are, more often than not, tied to the places they have been in. Weighing in on the long, racist history of the South, these locations bring greater significance to the fight for civil rights. Geography is important - every meeting, every decision, every catalytic event had to occur somewhere. Places like cafes and churches served as focal assembly points for civil rights activists to plan their next step, but at the same time it is in these very locations where racism and discrimination were perpetuated against them. Places of religious worship and religion itself also had a major role in shaping ideologies, making them worth exploring.
